The Meade 81015 is a terrific spotting scope and meets my needs perfectly. It arrived packed in a high quality, super rugged molded carry case along with a separate zippered scope pouch. The scope body shows quality construction, is medium weight, and has a molded rubberized covering with a nice grippy surface. The front clip-on lens cap has a small built-in compass that is a nice touch. The rear eyepiece lens cap threads on securely. Included is an economy tripod best suited for bench use. The 60mm optic provides clear and bright images and the fine focus wheel is very handy. Once in focus, just smoothly zoom the magnification from 20 to 60 power as needed.
Before purchasing, I researched many similar spotting scopes and found none that offered better image quality for anywhere near this price. Candidly, as an experienced photographer, I was very disappointed at the often marginal quality of several of the supposed big name scopes that were priced much higher than the Meade.
I am using this primarily as a 100-yard target spotting scope. My wife also uses this for observing wild life. If needed, we use a heavy-duty tripod for freestanding use in the field (highly recommended). We both find that the 45-degree viewing angle is a huge improvement over the inline configuration of most scopes. With its crisp image, ease of use, and value for the dollar, we could not be more pleased with this Meade scope.

I needed a spotting scope for bird watching. I was aware that Meade made nice telescopes so I figured this scope would be a good choice. It comes with a very nice hard case that holds the scope and tripod. There is also a carrying bag for the scope. The included tripod is junk at best and too short to use unless on a bench. The scope itself is rubber coated and works well. Keep in mind this is an inexpensive made in China scope so don't expect too much. It should work well for my purposes. I am using a different and better tripod instead of the included one.

Great at 100yds at 200 it is a bit shaky, may all be due to the tripod or mount. They just don't build those stout like they used to.
Comes in a hard case and stays protected.
