When I received this scope I was extremely excited because I did my research for what I wanted and this scope had great reviews. I began playing around with it inside my house and was very pleased with my decision to purchase this scope. It's very durable, looks great, is somewhat waterproof (I think), and holds its zero very well.
The one thing that I was not pleased with when I noticed it is that the red dot was almost impossible to see outside in mid-day sunlight. (DON'T WORRY, IT GETS BETTER FROM HERE) After noticing this problem, I sent in my warranty form and called Hi-Lux to see about getting a repair/replacement. Their customer service was VERY friendly and helped me get an exchange for my scope quickly and with ease.
In a week I had my replacement scope and the red dot is as bright as it's supposed to be! I can see it perfectly outside now! Overall, I am VERY pleased with my purchase, and would recommend this scope to anyone who wants a great red dot under $100, but doesn't want something extremely cheap.
UPDATE 3-12-12
After sighting in at 50 yards, dropping my Hi-Point a couple times, and putting well over 500 rounds through, there has been NO loss of zero what-so-ever! All of my shots have stayed on target.
The actual dot, on a bright sunny day, is a little small; but I have no problem with it as that is what I personally prefer. I also noticed that the pins for the lens covers do tend to come out overtime, but its easy to just push them back into place.
On a side-note (and in response to another review), there is a LITTLE bit of parallax error. However, you're going to be hard-pressed to find a scope for under $100 that doesn't have that.
All in all, I am still very pleased with my purchase.

I bought this sight through Optics planet and it lives up to the hype.
The Pros:
Very bright and effective in direct sunlight.
Easy to mount but with some early confusion on my part.
Well built and high quality construction.
Very accurate, better than I expected.
Simple to use and has 11 brightness settings.
The Cons:
A tad bulky and heavier than I thought.
Brightness knob is a tad tough to turn.
There is some reddish glare that seams to be coming from
the red dot system itself. Does not affect shooting at all.
Other:
This unit comes with integrated lense caps and does not hit the rails like I
read in other reviews. They cover inside the lense and do not stick out.
My first three shots with this was at 25 yards and grouped with in a nickle size group.
when I continued to sight the system in at 50 yards the groups were just as impressive
and hit the bulls eyes dead center after my first adjustment.
I felt like a pro and wish I could shoot that well with Iron sights at 50 yards
I mounted the system on the carry handle with see through rails for my iron sights.
This red dot is just perfect for the money.
Now if they made this a dual Red/green look out.

I liked the Hi-Lux red dot tactical so much when I installed it on my Saiga AK-47, that I bought another to install on my Remington 1100 for deer hunting. This red dot will well built, easy to zero in and the shaded lens covers are great during sunny days.
